SURFACE PREPARATION : 1. Masonry surface must be clean, sound, dry, and free of dirt, grease, oil, chalk, efflorescence, loose particles, loose paint, or any other materials that would inhibit proper adhesion of the coating. To achieve those conditions may require waterblasting, sandblasting, scraping, or other means, and shall always be performed observing normal trade practices. 2. Patch all holes and cracks with ALPHACRETE COMPOUND 30TM. Check all joints, especially where wall meets floor or concrete foundation. If there is a gap, fill in with ALPHACRETE 30TM. APPLICATION : 1. ALPHA 8® BELOW - GRADE 665 is ready to use. DO NOT THIN ! Coating may be spray applied using a SPEEFLO HYDRA 2000 or 4000 unit, with a minimum tip size of .033 up to .045. If applying by roller, use a 1-1/4 inch nap roller sleeve. 2. Apply first coat of ALPHA 8® BELOW - GRADE 665 over blocks or concrete surface to fill in voids. First coat may be applied at the rate of 30 to 75 sq. ft. per gallon, depending on how smooth or porous the surface is. Let first coat dry completely ( recoat time : 3 hours ). 3. Apply a liberal amount of ALPHA 8® BELOW - GRADE 665 ( second coat ) over desired area, approximately 46 inches wide, at a rate of 1-1/2 gallons per 100 sq. ft. Immediately embed 40 inches wide T272 Polyester Fabric into the wet coating. Using a roller and hands, apply pressure to the surface of the fabric to ensure good saturation of the fabric by the coating, working out any wrinkles at the same time. Immediately apply a third coat of ALPHA 8® BELOW - GRADE 665 over polyester fabric at a rate of 1 gallon per 100 sq. ft. Allow coating to dry before recoating. 4. Continue application overlapping each 40 inch strip by 4 inch each time until entire wall surface is covered. When you have covered the entire surface with fabric, proceed with applying 2 separate coats of ALPHA 8® BELOW - GRADE 665 over entire surface. 5. Allow full system to cure for 7 days. 6. Use foam boards against the wall before refilling with sand or gravel so that coating membrane will not be damaged. 7. The entire waterproofing membrane shall receive the ALPHA 8® BELOW - GRADE 665 POLYESTER SYSTEM consisting of 1 - ply of T272 polyester fabric and 5 gallons per 100 sq. ft. applied evenly in 5 separate coats. |
